So I worked really hard putting the embroidery pattern on the wrong side of the fabric. Only when I went to start stitching did I realise that it was beyond my capabilities to stitch the actual pattern on what would be the 'wrong side' and have the messy version of my work right under my figertips where i could see it.
I ended up stitching the basic figure in black, then embroidering over it.

You can see an unfinished base in the upper right-hand corner, and another in the lower right center.
It takes between fifteen minutes to half an hour to do a flower, stem and two leaf figure from start to finish. I think I have four figures left to do on the front panel.
It seems fairly certain that there is embroidery on both side panels, and I will pessimistically wager that there is embroidery in the back as well.
