Notepad #6
Oct. 27th, 2011 04:46 pmThey say you learn something new every day. Well, this is certainly one of the most interesting things I've come across recently.
It started with a fan version of an incomplete song.
Perilous Gard: the song
Which was neat, but then the music for it was written in ABC notation and, forgive me for the verbal flailing, but that's so cool! Why haven't I heard about this before?!
Finally, here's a converter to take the text to the traditional sheet format. :D

The Scorpio Races
Aug. 19th, 2011 01:02 pmThe Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
Autographed copies available here
I have yet to read a book by Maggie Stiefvater because I do not usually read paranormal romances. But Shiver is on my list of books I'd read if I saw it at the library. Because she has a cool blog and pretty covers.
However! The Scorpio Races has a premise I can get excited about because I am a horse story junkie and it sounds like one of the British stories that would get a chapter published in a horse story anthology with line drawings and everyone would wear turtleneck sweaters and jodhpurs and there would be lovely descriptions of the countryside and the occasional death-defying heroine on a black horse. And by entering in the contest I have a 0.0000004% chance of winning a copy that is doodled in and prettified.
So even though I didn't even know this book existed until this morning I am now excited about it. Also, even if horse stories aren't your thing, you should definitely listen to the trailer. The music is... SWOON.
